Exxon Mobil, one of the world's largest oil and gas companies, is a major player in the energy industry. Founded in 1999 following the merger of Exxon and Mobil, its story dates back to 1870 with the creation of Standard Oil by John D. Rockefeller. Today, the company operates in more than 100 countries and is active in the exploration, production, refining and distribution of oil and natural gas, as well as in petrochemicals. Despite environmental pressures, Exxon Mobil continues to invest heavily in fossil fuels, with expansion projects including liquefied natural gas and shale oil. In 2023, the group achieved sales of $268.9 billion and employs approximately 62,000 people worldwide.
